Welcome

I am a mathematician working as a research scientist for the U.S. Department of the Navy. I develop algorithms and methods that advance the science of autonomy, particularly for large groups of autonomous agents (a.k.a. robot swarms). I am also a Branch Manager and a Project Leader for teams of other researchers. For more information on my scientific work and research leadership, see my Research page.

My academic background is numerical methods and optimization, with applications to machine learning. In 2013 I was awarded a U.S. National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. I spent the Fall of 2015 collaborating with scientists at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, thanks to a Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide (GROW) award from the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Research Council of Norway. I received my Ph.D. in Mathematics from Georgia Tech in 2017. Details can be found on my Academics page.

I have patents pending in autonomous vehicle fleet design and management, and in the optimization of the built environment for maximum energy efficiency. I have also worked on a variety of software projects, and I have substantial teaching experience.
